ORPHEUS

After the Maenads devoured Orpheus, they buried his dissected body in Leivithros. However, his head plummeted down Paggaio Mountain and still singing it drifted through river Evros towards the island of Lesvos. There, its residents, maddened by its wild song, they buried it and built a temple on top, and only then did it stop and they found peace.

Orpheus is the reverse structure of a holy mountain, a flying house, whose containments and coordinates are changeable. It is an artwork that follows the im/-migration of people and faith and lies with the subject who can fill it up with fear, passion and hope. It has elevation tendencies while taking power from below. It occasionally follows the prophet.
